Hey, that was actually worse somehow
I guess we know why the Bears never had an interim coach before
Teams who fire their head coach in-season, no matter how bad they might be typically get a bump in the first game with the new guy. It’s human nature, you show up with a little more spring in your step, and with the cloud of whatever particular bullshit that coach was bringing lifted, you play a little bit better.
Well, if that was the case for the Bears yesterday, I’d hate to see just how bad it would have been without a coaching change.
In the first half of a 38-13 loss to the 49ers that felt like it was 83-3, the Bears were outgained 319 yards to four. The Niners had 14 first downs to the Bears’ one, they held the ball for 20 of the 30 minutes (I have no idea how the Bears managed to have ten minutes of possession in that half) and it was 24-0.
The Bears somehow gained 12 feet in the first half!
They punted more often (five times) than they gained yards (four.)
When you factor in the sacks (and brother, there were SACKS) the Bears “gained” negative three yards passing in the first half.
Do we think Adam Hoge still wants the Bears to hand the head coaching job to Thomas Brown?
