Mitch doesn't have the right stuff, but we do
Take a break from dreading his return with a couple cool podcasts!
If you thought we weren’t going to have Mitch Trubisky to kick around any longer, well, I guess we get to go through all that again, eh? Nick Foles, the most un-hip QB in the NFL now has an actual bad hip, and Mitch has made a miraculous recovery from the shoulder injury he suffered on the one snap he’s taken in the last 90 days. The Bears and Packers are squaring off on Sunday Night Football this week, which was going to be bad enough with us having to listen to Al Michaels and Cris Collinsworth rehash the breaking news that the Bears haven’t had a passable quarterback situation since Texaco Star Theater was airing first run shows. (1950, if you’re wondering.)
Any team can have a bad 70 year run at QB.
So, is this the part where we break down the Bears chances of beating the Packers? (By the way, for the second year in a row, despite their good record the Packers aren’t really very good.)
Or, is this the part where we wonder if the likely cancelled Baltimore-Pissburgh game that’s already been moved from Thursday to Sunday because the Ravens have a Covid outbreak, is going to trigger the NFL’s need for a week 18, which would also mean they’ll add an eighth playoff team in each conference. If they do, the final NFC team (as of now, at least) would be…
You know, the idea that this Bears team would back into the playoffs, saving Ryan Pace and Matt Nagy’s jobs* and then getting beat 40-2 in the first round, is just so 2020.
* The sad thing is that even this terrible flop of a season after a 5-1 start hasn’t seemed to motivate the McCaskeys to make changes.
You know what? This is the part where I point you to good content instead. We’ll all suffer through the Bears game Sunday night, but until then, why not do something productive with your time?
Mike Pusateri and I took advantage of the Bears bye week to take an in-depth, and really fun, look back at one of our favorite movies. It’s the 1983 classic The Right Stuff. If you’ve never seen it, it’s on HBO Max right now, and if you have seen it, then you know what an awesome, cool, thrilling and funny movie it is. And, I guarantee you you’ll love this podcast:
And then, to help ease yourself into Bears-Packers, Mike Donohue and I took a look back at the better and more fun days of the rivalry in our weekly Remember This Crap? podcast. You’re going to learn way more about Chester Marcol than you ever wanted, remember the days when the Ditka Bears never lost to the Packers and how Lovie Smith gave us a much needed, albeit brief, respite from the beatings, and a really creepy inside joke about Mossy Cade.
If you haven’t subscribed to the Podcast, well, what are you waiting for?
