I get it that the fancy projection systems developed by Fangraphs and Baseball Prospectus can’t take every variable into account when they predict the records of baseball’s 30 teams.
What does a fancy computer algorithm know about heart and grit and Seiya Suzuki showing up to camp looking like an Asian Glenn Braggs?
The other thing those projection systems can’t measure is that the Cubs had the fifth best record in the National League last year from the All-Star Break on.
No, wait.
They absolutely do measure that. I guess they were just profoundly unimpressed.
