They can take your scoreboard bug and use the clock for the pitch clock. Win/win.

I'm sure they'll do a survey and find out most Cubs fans can't read an analog clock.

I enjoy your column, however... You're wrong about the clock being presented on screen. There will be numerous situations where it will come into play, effecting pitchers and hitters. Secondly, Kevin Burkhardt may have been told what you wrote (no reason to doubt it), however he developed remarkable credibility by discovering goings-on around Citi field that made for better telecasts with Gary (Cohen), Keith (Hernandez) & Ron Darling. Yes, a 3-man booth for 18 + years.

I think if they leave the clock up all the time people will tune it out and violations will happen and we'll still be surprised by them. It's just more clutter on an already bad score bug.

As for Burkhardt, the thing I liked about his anecdote is that they didn't force him into the broadcast. When he had something they used him. Marquee shoves Taylor onto our screens five times a game whether we need her or not.

And I'd be fine with a three man booth if the third person played the Keith Hernandez role and just told stories about his cat during the games.
